I love that game. Recently played it again and it so unique and awesome. The moment you start to 'get' the game and figure oyt how to combo through the levels it feels so good. I really think it is among the best games of its gen, and holds up well to this day.
Most Nintendo consoles have some pretty experimental software though. A lot of it just has become industry/Nintendo 'standards' so to say so we don't think of it as experimental anymore.
