Anyways retro studio isn't like its past self and you just can't develop a big respected studio in a few years even if you hire the best developers and put a lot of money. Studio culture, its ability to pass through changes and ability to retain talents defines a studio. In past people have left ND and made their own studios. Ready at dawn was formed by ND members. As Jason Ruben said in ND's 30 year anniversary video you just can't make a successful studio. With years of effort in turns into reality.

Retro still makes great games, so why wouldn't they be able to create more of them in the future? You're way too fixated about some arbitrary score on metacritic. Next time, actually play the game first and decide for yourself.
