I agree to some extent with the OP. The personalities in the marriage system are very anime inspired which I find irritating. I'm not a fan of anime for this very reason. When I first saw/heard the SMT x FE trailer at the direct I thought it was some anime tie in 3DS shovelware, what with the J-Pop singing and anime trailer.
However, at the end of the day, as long as the gameplay and story remains good like Awakening, I can stomach the convictions the devs have to live by to make the series sell.
