Well he's very pro Microsoft so will say anything to defend them. 

 

Anyway, PS4 is currently tracking ahead of the PS2. However, the PS2's first 7 months of sales were Japan only, it did not even release in North America or Europe till the end of 2000. The PS2 was also heavily supply constrained and due to the market at the time, more than 50 million sales come after the PS3 came out. Something like that just won't happen again, even the PS3 has only sold around ~7 million since the PS4 came out and likely won't even sell 15 million extra. (95m max).

As you can see below, here is PS4 vs PS2 worldwide when launches are aligned, again please take into account the above notes. 

 

And here is my prediction for this genertion, I believe that by the end of 2019 the PS4/XB1/WiU will have reached or exceeded 150 million units combined with the PS4 accounting for between 60-70% market share. Please not the graph below is the first 7 years with launches aligned, it only goes up to end of 2018 for this gen.
