So last generation there was Xbox Live (paid subscription) and PSN (free or as a premium membership service in the form of PS+). If competition served consumers, then we would have seen Microsoft adjusting and offering free online multiplayer while Xbox Live Gold would have come with multiple additional benefits for paying consumers. What we got instead is Sony adjusting and putting online multiplayer behind a paywall. I am not going to pay for something that should be free, so Sony has to fix this.

This will never happen. This is now a big key to Sony earning money again.
Besides all the games coming to ps+ its definitely worth it.
