I hardly think PS4 eclipsing PS2 sales would determine who's right. In fact a contradiction in your arguement is stating that Wii had the 'casual' demographic yet it didn't even outsell PS2 yet PS4 has to outsell it for me to be right :P How's that work? haha.
Again sorry if I came off standoffish. I haven't seen your posts around this site that much but I'm rather annoyed at the community as a whole when people talk about 'casuals' because the way it's worded makes it sound like people think they're hardcore gamers and these casuals are a low level race of beings not worth a penny. Much in the same way actually that the PC 'master race' looks down on the 'console peasants'. That shit pisses me off.
When someone says casual, I interpret it as mass market appeal. In that regard all three consoles had pretty even mass market appeal. This gen, PS4 is the most popular by a significant margin and I expect this figure to skew favorably as the gen matures. I maintain that PS4 has a chance to come close PS2. It has the content delivery platform to maintain a healthy life as a senior citizen when it's newborn is revealed supposed we see a wicked final price of $100-$150.
EDIT: And about Japan. Dragon Quest has come back to consoles. Kingdom Hearts 3 is coming out. Final Fantasy XV is going to have an appeal we haven't seen in years. Persona 5 will have unprecedented sales for itself. Bloodborne is fucking huge and it's roots are in Japan. The writings on the wall - We will see momtentum increase in Japan.
