Well third parties don't support it outside of Japan and much of that Japanese support isn't being brought over. Nintendo are stretched and putting more resources into the Wii U at the moment. Its not getting the shovelware that the DS got because that belongs to the mobile market now.
3DS is towards the end of its life now, if I recall correctly the DS didn't get a ton on new support after the DSi's launch?
