Animal Crossing didn't even sell that great on the Wii in Japan. 

They like Animal Crossing ... but on handhelds. Not on console. Same goes with things like Monster Hunter. 

Nintendo is just playing out the string on the Wii U in Japan, I think they know full well it's going to be their lowest selling console there. 

You think it's not possible for Wii U to sell 1.8 million more in japan?

It's not likely, it's already peaked, tracking behind Gamecube and only did like 600k last year and is down about 25% thru the first quarter.
