It's not an advertizement dude. It's a legacy character in a legacy game. And who care's if it advertizes Banjo in the process? Does it hurt Nintendo? No. Does it hurt fans? No. Does it hurt Xbox? No. Does it hurt Banjo? No. Is it good for literally everybody? Yes. I don't see the issue.

Nintendo: More Money, possibility of some buying a wiiu and SSB just because a beloved character is in the game (same could be said with megaman and snake in SSBB)

MS: Free advertisement, Banjo in a good game thats well known, His image could be restored (like megaman when capcom let him die).
