My mistake, a 2014 release window was never officially confirmed.

I do still have a grievance with announcing games 3 years before they come out (Watch Dogs got slack for announcing the game 2 years before launch)

I think regardless of whether oo not a release date/window was confirmed for Quantum Break....your argument still has merit.

Games are shown off way to early. Its probably a tactic used by the platform holders to build hype. Give the gamers a taste of whats to come...it also pushes the developers to try and achieve that expectation.

I think in some cases they set that expectation too high and it results in delays. The problem with delays is that by the time the game releases the industry might have changed and other games that push the boundaries have already been released.

I think you shouldn't really show a game until it's about a year and a half out, max. It's not great for a publisher because yeah you build up hype and then need to delay the game because of expectations but the longer you push it back the more grand people's expectations are going to be (Watch Dogs).
