I have never seen an explanation for the way global numbers are calculated.

For PS4: 69,544 (NA) + 51,781(EU) + 33,363(JP) =  154,688 while the "Global" number = 195,306.

Percent of Global Sales for the rest of the world:

PS4: 20.8%

3DS: 7.65%

XB1: 11.74%

PS3: 26.4%

Wii U: 6.9%

PS Vita: 21.1%

XB360: 14.6%

Wii: 7.1%

I can understand that Sony sells better (than MS & Nitendo) on markets other than NA+EU+JP, but I would expect the Wii to sell more than the Wii U on these markets.

Anyone seen an explanation to this?

Edit in bold:  I fixed your math to make better sense.

I would assume that these other countries aren't as wealthy in NA, EU, or JP.  Therefore, you will likely see a larger spike towards the end of a console generation for the rest of the world than at the beginning.  (when it is more affordable)

Wii and Wii U numbers are fairly close, in regards to the ROW, due to the Wii's early spike in the 7th generation.  This will ultimately cause the ROW to purchase the console previously as opposed to right now.

My proof that the rest of the world sells better for consoles at the end of the generation is shown with the PS3, XB360, and Wii sales over the PS4, XB1, and Wii U respectively.
