And what would the NX solve?

Same Nintendo games. What is the point? What needs to change to gain widespread appeal isnt to drop your fans on the water and change nothing.
That is the worst thing you can do. Thats what SEGA did.

No, Nintendo needs to soldier this one out until the time is right.

I've been saying this again and again. Everyone seems to think that a new piece of hardware will change the whole climate. Nintendo needs to launch their new platform with quality games and follow with a big first year - that takes time. They also need their diminishing fanbase to know they won't pull the rug out from under them in another 2-3 years. That means time.

Everyone wants a quick fix NOW. That fix will bump sales for the nonce, but will do nothing for the long-term financials.

If amiibo continue to sell, and Nintendo can continue to make a profit with their current hardware (they did last quarter), then they need to ride that out until the world is frothing at the mouth for the NX - then unleash it. Patience is a difficult thing for most to understand, but a steady hand is what will guide Nintendo into the future of gaming.
