no they won't, first because nobody would buy it, second because they drastically need it... It's not a matter of choice the living too space is the last tech space really up for grabs... Nobody truly dominates there only niche markets fractured in different entertainment segment (video game/tv,cable/streaming etc)... And display tech has a judge headway... MS is mishandling it for sure but their vision is two step ahead of the competition... We will need a unique entertainment box down the last ne, not just a console, not just a roku, not just a motin/3d/VR/AR/ cable box stand alone... But an all in one box... I know i do and 100s of millions will eventually and then we'll head into the smart house for all area... But living room first.... Without that MS is in trouble in the long run outside of the business space.... |
I definitly agree that the Xbox and the living room push from MS is not going anywhere. Maybe a dedicated console will not be the direction when the next gen rolls around but then again who needs a dedicated console if you can push everything from your PC. The thing is, making a server that is plug and play will be the direction and streaming your games from it to your TV is the future. The one big key I believe why this will be the direction MS goes is how the OS is run from a VM. This will allow MS to easily provide backward compatibility with the X1 while host that VM on a PC. Using fast switching, your server will be able to switch between different VMs and stream that to your TV, giving you a dedicated game machine and a powerful media PC.
