Thats still not enough, Nintendos problem has nothing to do with the amount of games they publish, they probably do more than any plaform holder, they need the top games from multiplatform as well, Nintendo being just for Nintendo published games will never be viable in the long term.

It really feels like they have to partner up with anybody they can just to get games on there system, no one seems to make Nintendo games just because they want to as its a viable business model.

Something big has to change, they either need another mass market gimmick, which is much easier to say than to acheive, or they need to become much more attractive to other developers.

They have smartphone monies now to pay all the bills and then some. That's the "something big has to change" thing.

The NX just has to be nicely profitable but it doesn't have to carry Nintendo on its own. QoL, amiibo, media licensing (Mario CG movie?) will also spread the burden around.

That said, more than a few third parties probably would support a Nintendo if they could get the 3DS size userbase without the PS2 level engine making so they could actually bring their more modern titles over. But wouldn't be the sales driver.

Well heres hoping so, although your making it sound like other divisions will carry a console does not sound good long term, things that dont pull there weight eventually get cut off in business.

I also feel they need to align there hardware with others, i think your right in saying developers dont want to have a seperate engine archtiecture just for Ninty ports.
