Yes you are the main character (the male/female character, you can choose) and was raised in 1 family (the evil one) but are a child of the other (the good one). They are the ruling families of 2 countries in conflict with each other, and you have to decide who to fight for. Regardless of your choice, you play the same character, only on different sides.

Ah, in that case it doesn't quite sound like the goodguy vs badguy scenario that I first imagined, but rather two different factions that will probably turn out to be equally right or wrong in the end. Or perhaps depending on which side you chose. But none the less, sounds like it might give you a good reason to replay the game again, if the two different factions are different enough to warrant it. Let's hope so. For example, there's not a huge reason to replay Fire Emblem: Awakening as another gender, other than seeing some different personal conversations.

from what I understood you don't play "the bad guy", you can play as a resident of the aggressing nation and try to revolutionize the country from within
and your self made char will be the main character

Yeah,I hope they make the different factions stories different enough to encourage people to play through the game again just to see it.

Well, 1 the factions was described as peace loving while the other was agressive. Plus one faction was pretty much wearing lots of white or looking all sinister with lots of black and stuff so I interpreted it as good vs bad. But you're right that it doesn't have to be that simple.
