I think the portable form of NX will be out in Japan at least by summer 2016, if not globally summer 2016.
I'm not sure on the home unit front. It really depends how internal software development is going and what kind of hardware we're talking about right now.
If we consider in the financial year starting April 2016, Nintendo will have revenue coming in from smartphones and possibly Quality of Life, as well as whatever 3DS and Wii U are posting for their bottom line. Potentially a handheld launch of NX is all they might need to keep numbers healthy. There's also the question of how much strain their internal development can take: they simply cannot afford more droughts launching NX.
