Company change branding for various reasons and a lot of them people will have no clue why they do it. Most times branding is done to lesson confusion by the consumer. Naming all their services Xbox would be confusing if people believe that they need an Xbox for the service. Since MS is trying to put their services on just about any device these days. Branding the services other than Xbox might be the smart move.

Trying to link this as MS disassociating themselves with the Xbox seems way to early, especially with all the integration being done with Win 10.

This post is more of a stab in the dark to support an opinion then any real facts or position from MS.
