Normally, I don't care if people use exploits while playing whatever game but when speed runners who uses exploits get some kind of recogination like being in the news for their so called achievement, I have a problem with it. They are in a way gaining an award from doing it. It's not something that you inspire others to do.

Is exploiting a bug or glitch allowable in gaming tournaments with cash prizes or any kind of rewards? Is it considered cheating? Is it something to commend them for doing?

I see that you're trying to get me to understand it from that community's perspective but my opinion is already fixed on this. I'll just rephrase "It's being outside the normal game" to "it's being done outside of the intended game by the developers".  Like I said, I won't offer any commendation for resorting to using to exploits to win. If you think differently than me on it then to each their own.

No, that is not ok at all. This is Any%. If you dislike pole vault, would go approach pole vault enthusiasts and claim that their medals are stupid and that their jumps aren't "real" because they use a pole? That is horribly disrespectful and stupid.

You have every right to dislike Any%, but it is what it is. The category is designed with certain rules, it IS A THING. That whole discussion is so stupid, non-speedrunners go in and claim that the work they do is pointless and their achievements worthless. Think about that for a second! Try that train of thought on ANYTHING in this world! IT WON'T WORK

Actually, how about you try your train of thought in the world outside of the community of Any% speedrunning.

Go into a casino, exploit a glitch in a slot machine in order to win as many times as you want and when the casino finds out, see how they treat you.

Exploit a glitch in a game while in  gaming tournament and see how the gaming community d responds.
