They showed 3DS at E3 2010 and launched on February 2011. Also, they said in an interview how bad was to miss the holiday (2010) launch.

They showed the Wii at 2006 and launched on November 2006.

They showed the Nintendo Game Cube at E3 2001 and launched on November 2001.

 

Also, Iwata said they will share more information next year, not next E3.

Let me add to your comment that wii was teased in 2004...However, gamecube got a decent amount of games till the end of its life!(2006)
