It's likely that since the mobile announcement Iwata told Aonuma that there isn't as much pressure to get the game done by the end of the year so he's free to implement whatever he wants into the game to make it the best Zelda it can be.

I wouldn't be too concerned if they said it will be delayed by a couple of months but we both know that they will release Zelda U in late november 2016, it's just poor management when you relase a game one year after it was scheduled.
