Because that Console would fail. harddddddd.
FTR, I do want them to unify, but they need to make a console that's standard in terms of hardware this time around, which contradicts with the Fusion aspect of things because having the same architecture as the handheld, which is most likely gonna be ARM (The same as all Nintendo's previous handhelds and modern phones and tablets), would limit 3rd party developers yet again...

They could always surprise us by making an x86 handheld though, but that ain't happening.

When have 3rd party multiplats ever been a factor in Nintendo hardware sales? Never, so Nintendo shouldn't really worry about them.

Even during the NES/SNES days, when Nintendo had great 3rd party support, it was exclusives that sold the hardware. If games like Castlevania, Mega Man, Final Fantasy, Ninja Turtles, etc. were on the Sega Master System as well then it would have been the Nintendo exclusives that caused people to choose the NES.

Also such devices would still get 3rd party support, just not western multiplats. Look at 3DS, it gets a ton of Japanese 3rd party support and western child-friendly games along with both devices getting alot of indie support. Nintendo's future is increased Nintendo-published output+Japanese 3rd party exclusives+child friendly multiplats+indies. That easily gives Nintendo 100+ titles per year.
