 US's bipartisan system may have a lot of flaws and, but at least you can voice your opinions in public (even the very, very extreme ones) without fearing for your own safety. Most opposition leaders in Russia aren't so lucky, and are very familiar with physical violence (handed out by angry mobs, militia and the police), random arrests and even assassinations.  Plus, every significant Russian media outlet is either outright controlled or heavily regulated by the government - all the US government has is Fox News.
