Super Metroid is so overrated imo.
Fusion is the much better game and it has great non-verbal story telling (the foreshadowing of Nightmare, the SA-X encounters, your friends from Super Metroid rescueing you at the end, etc.). Only the music is better in Super Metroid (and the final boss). Plus there's still exploration in Fusion, especially near the end the computer stops telling you where to go. The rooms to unlock the colored doors are also never put on the map (which pretty much every reviewer seems to forget when they talk about the linearity of Fusion). It also has one of the best stories in a Metroid game. And the controls are far better in Fusion than in Super Metroid. Graphically it's not even a contest.
I love how vulnerable Samus is in this game. Only matched by Zero Suit Samus in Zero Mission.
Review the Prime games then, you have an excuse now (they're on the Wii U VC).
