What WOULD make me buy a PS4

That's highly subjective. Most would argue PC + Wii U is the best option. It really depends on what kind of games you're into. He mentioned he was a big FPS guy so it's possible an Xbox One + Wii U might be right for him. And hey, if the rumors about Rare are true, the Xbox One might be getting some old school 3D Platformers soon too.

The xbox one has only halo exclsuive, ps4 has killzone.

Killzone is a good IP, that much is true but it doesn't compare to Halo.

Also, I wasn't just talking about exclusives, more so the online infractstructure that the Xbox possesses, one that is without a shadow of a doubt better. Which is pretty important to people who like to play competitive FPS.

Its not really better, both are pretty much the same

Im assuming you mean the online infrastructure. They're not the same, while Sony gives you more rewards via PS+ they tend to be victaims of hackers and DDos attacks a lot more frequently than Xbox Live. Xbox Live is the more stable of the two, I'm not sure if that's because Sony has poor security or simply because hackers for some reason like to target Sony.
