I don't think Nintendo are doing that. Expecially not with the image they want to keep for parents. Nintendo is a toy. You don't sell your toys on a susbcription. Like I said, they're going more Steam than PS Plus. It's more Nintendo like. They'll make plenty money.

PS Plus is good for maintaining a constant stream of revenue. A free rewards system like the one they're likely to do is good for organically raising attach rate. Rewarding people who buy more games with cheaper ways to buy more games creates the "Steam problem," where your customer kind of becomes addicted to the idea of having more games just for the sake of having them. Nintendo benefits from that much more than Sony would.
