Graphics are a gimmick   controllers are not.

 

You do not need  a stone to have 10k polygons instead of 8k to be a stone.
You needed  an analog stick for mario 64s 3d movement.
You needed a wiimote for  Wii sports to work.
You need a second screen for  asymetric multiplayer etc.
