I've only read the OP but it's like this:

People flip-flop a lot. If the console x has better multi-plats most of the time, Xbox fans blow it out of proportion to attack their sworn enemy. Meanwhile the owners of console y will claim it's not a big deal.

Innovation is praised until a competitor does it. Then, it's a gimmick. People with 19-inch 720p LCD TV's will shout "1080p 60fps" even if they can't see it just to win some kind of console war.

Exclusives are the only thing that counts and Indie games aren't real games--unless your console has more indie games and less exclusives. Or whatever. I see it all the time.

"You can't play sales"
"I'll just play this on my PC"
"Gameplay is all that matters"
"I don't mind buying batteries for my controller"
"I'll never pay for online"

Or whatever. People invest in a console and when they do, they overlook the flaws in their company and magnify the flaws of the competition. And such is life.
