i never really noticed this until today, but thought it was interesting.
SEGA released the dreamcast in in Japan in 1998. A year later SEGA brought it to america in September of 1999. SEGA ended Dreamcast in 2001
The Dreamcast went on to sell 10.6m consoles, though VGC has it recorded as 8.2m.
The WiiU released in November of 2012. WiiU has went on to selling 9.3m according to VGC
These two consoles are selling at a very similar pace. Luckily Nintendo is a better business than SEGA so it wont sink them. And now that Nintendo is going mobile and planning their next console i think they will do what SEGA couldnt and climb out of the hole theyre in.
Anyways, just thought it was interesting how similar the two were doing. Granted i think the Dreamcast was amazing and deserved way better numbers than it got
