Remasters are fine as in this is pretty much the only way you can play classic games on modern consoles unless your console is capable of running full emulation of the original games like the Wii / Wii U does. And even in that case we're talking about games that came out several generations ago, while the more modern ones like Zelda The Wind Waker or the Kingdom Hearts games essentially require all new coding to run on modern machines, so they might as well give the visuals a bump too while they're at it.
I also think alot of these companies are looking for a quick cash grab and to pad their current-gen software libraries when announcing remasters of games that just came out within the past year or two. It's kinda like how they'll release a game and then 6-12 mos later release a "GOTY" version for full $60 msrp that includes some DLC or some other extras.
