Wrong. It's a port of a game that didn't even reach gold sales. As the page for RE4 Wii shows, that game sold just under twice as well as Okami did in its first US week, but that game had gone platinum on two systems before it came to the Wii.
So a game, with mediocre sales on its last system, selling just over half as well as a game that was a hit on its two previous systems, is a good opening.
A flashy-first game is awesome when it comes out. A great-first game is awesome forever.
