It's not like "OMG! What are we going to sell the Wii U with for 2016!!!" is something that keeps Iwata awake at night in terror. So what if they don't have some killer lineup for 2016. Provided they can slap together even 7-8 decent titles is good enough. It's really all much ado about nothing, like a short guy who gets all fussed for someone saying he's 5'2 instead of 5'3. Who cares man, you're short either way. The Wii U is what it is, it's not fooling anyone, it's not like anyone was under some impression that it was some great success and a poor 2016 may (gasp) clue them in to the truth. The fact is Nintendo's supported the Wii U better than most companies would have through 2015 it's 1st/2nd party library is virtually as good as the Wii through 2010 (maybe better honestly) which sold far, far better. Is Sony still supporting the Vita? So I think people should get off Nintendo's case. Nintendo doesn't have to do much more for the Wii U, what they've done through 2015 as is is probably more than it deserverd. |
Pretty much this. It was last May, a few weeks before Mario Kart released, that Iwata said they wouldn't move on from Wii U until their core fanbase was pleased. Well let's look at what major titles have released from that point until the end of this year
Mario Kart 8
Hyrule Warriors
Bayonetta 2
Super Smash Bros. for Wii U
Captain Toad: Treasure Tracker
Kirby and the Rainbow Curse
Mario Party 10
Splatoon
Xenoblade Chronicles X
Yoshi's Woolly World
Mario Maker
Star Fox
Devil's Third
Legend of Zelda
Add in a handful of 2016 titles that Nintendo has yet to announce and the titles released before Iwata made that statement, there is no way any Nintendo fan can say they aren't happy with the Wii U lineup.
When the herd loses its way, the shepard must kill the bull that leads them astray.
