Nintendo will be involved with making the games. In the conference they talked about a joint development team of Nintendo and DeNA people. Nintendo will still be dedicating resources, but just not as much as if they were doing it alone.

The massive stock rise is because investors believe that branching out into the mobile market makes sense.

because its a cash cow...  little outlay for potentailly huge returns.

Investors have been hoping for this news for years, and now it has happened, they're buying. That's the reason for the stock rise. Whether it will be a cash cow for Nintendo remains to be seen, and that very much depends on how it all works out.

As Iwata said in the conference, the mobile market is a very competitive place - those few who succeed tend to be one-hit wonders. If Nintendo's games don't do well on mobile, then they would have failed in their strategy to use the exposure to a wider audience to boost console dedicated gaming.

I KNOW the mechanics of why the stock is rising... its supply and demand.  But why are the people buying?  Its because they see this as a potential cash cow.

So ultimately, the stock is rising becasue people see this as a cash cow.

A reasonable compromise!
