krik,

most people don't care about HD

55% of hdtv owners don't even get hd content on their tv...and 25% think they are watching hd when they aren't

many people just don't see much (if any) difference in hd and dvd quality (which is what wii is)

people buy hdtvs because they are flat and can hang on the wall

hd is overshooting what consumers want (except for many hardcore gamers), while standard gamepads is undershooting what consumers want (except for many hardcore gamers)

This is why I say the lifetime will be shorter and not already over. HDTV will be predominant in the next couple of years .

I have 2 HDTVs and I can tell you like SD (standard definition) televison looks like crap on them. As more channels go HD more people will watch them (I mostly watch HD channels now since SD looks like crap) and eventually everyone will get used to the quality of HD.

Wii is 480p and 480p does not display properly on my 1080p tvs. It's like using your LDC monitor to display some other resolution besides it's default pixel resolution. HDTVs are much better than LCD monitors doing this but still it's noticeable when you go from 1080p to 480p.
