Consider that with Project X Zone and Xenoblade Chronicles X, the 'X' is Kurosu, or Cross.
Nintendo Cross, to refer to the cross-device nature of the platform. Remember, Iwata said last year platform no longer meant the hardware you played on, but the network that your different devices connect to. Probably Nintendo's most significant codename since Revolution, in that it succinctly embodies the philosophy behind their next platform.
