They're competiors about as much as a movie like Cinderella is in direct competetion with the next Fast & Furious movie.

try talking a wii u buyer into buying a ps4 instead, you will be laughed out of the store. "buyers" minds are already set. the fact stands that both wii u and ps4 are dedicated gaming machines and thus, are in competition with each other. a person that wants only one gaming console will buy either wii u, x1 or ps4 = competition.
