All mainline Halo's after Halo 3 boosted the system more than Halo 3 did. Alot of people were saying that Halo Reach or Halo 4 wouldn't do anything for Xbox 360, because everyone who likes Halo already has an Xbox 360, but they both ended up boosting more systems than Halo 3 did when it launched. Ever since CoD4 MW released the FPS market has grown, not shrunk. Halo was already a beast with Halo 3 selling as much as it did, to expect the next Halo's to sell that well is a little too optimistic. But when you include digital download (I don't have data to back this up) I'm quite certain that each mainline Halo game has either reached or come close to 10 million in sales which is alot more than Halo was doing the previous generation.
Halo doesn't have nearly as big of a market share but its power as an IP hasn't shrunk at all I don't think.
