The soundtrack of FFX was screwed with way too much.  Besides Contest of Aeons, there wasn't a single track that could be considered superior to the old one or at the very least questionable like say Fight with Seymour (the beginning of the song especially).  There were some tracks not messed with at all..which was an improvement on the remasters part.

Compare the remastered airship theme to the old one.  The remastered Luca theme to the old one. And that one track that plays both before you play blitzball and before a serious moment of the game.

There are instruments all out of place in most of those and the airship theme was slowed down in the strangest of ways.  It is so weird.

It's like they have no quality control because they want to try and pump out games as fast as possible.  They said they wanted to try and speed up development, but they're letting problems slip right by them.

Edit: The point being that SE obviously doesn't have it all together.  They need some serious quality control and they almost completely neglect that quality control for voice acting and writing.

The soundtrack music was superior to the music of the originals. Of course, being subjected to lesser music for over a decade you probably got used to it even though the music from the originals are clearly inferior.

Nostalgia is a strong thing. But don't let it blind and make you go against the music from the remasters. The quality was better.

I'm not referring to the sound quality, I'm referring to the composition quality strictly. If we're going to be completely honest and objective, then it's impossible to state which versions have better emotional provocation.  What I do know is the difference in certain ethereal harmonies present and not present in some soundtracks.  Certain silences in the music quality of FFX and Crisis Core no longer present themselves in their originals because SE operates that way now by always filling those specifically crafted silences and subtle tones with louder instruments and electronic beats.  It happened in Crisis Core's Anxious Heart remix of FF7 for instance, completely diluting the feel of sadness, mystery and looming events to come.

Violin instrumentals created a much different harmony effect in those games, and they weren't in the originals.  Does that make it bad?  No, because we can't prove it.  However, it's not just nostalgia either because the emotional output from our own brains will receive these differences accordingly, and emotionally regardless if we heard the original or not.  And the violins added in just took away from what was intended for the vision of the games...which is important to consider as well; the original vision.  It's never a good idea to try and change that vision unless you're just adding on to it. Usually by sound quality exclusively.

They increased the sound quality, but lessened the composition quality...with maybe one or two exceptions.
