As for your attacks, I don't have hdtv so I can imagine life without 1080p so far, and I understand why people are hesitant to adopt blu-ray. Right now it is $500 to get a 1080p blu-ray player. Despite that, blu-ray outsells hd-dvd and now blockbuster has decided to take out hd-dvd from most of their stores due to better sales from blu-ray. The decision to include blu-ray in the PS3 is obviously the main reason for the sales and blockbuster's decision. Just because the war isn't over yet does not mean I can't recognize the better format. Blu-ray has higher transfer speeds, more space, is scratch proof, more studio support (all but Universal), burners and bd-r for PCs. The only advantage hd-dvd has it the player price advantage (discs are cheaper on blu-ray now). When dvds were being formed, Sony and Phillips had their own format they wanted to release just like they did for CDs. However, toshiba and others had their DVD and convinced Sony and Phillips to forgo a format war and help out with DVDs. This time, Toshiba and company is the odd group out and did not go with Sony and other's format and decided to go with a format war because they wanted royalties. It's unfortunate, because blu-ray is clearly the superior format and it would have been great for all to agree on it. That does not mean blu-ray will win, but I still think it was good for the format war for Sony to include the blu-ray drive in the PS3. It does not bother me that they are doing that to help the format, because I support the superior format and hope it wins out. If they had all agreed, blu-ray players would be cheaper right now. Toshiba is the company to blame here, not Sony. But I digress. I understand the good points of the Wii, as I plan to get one. That does not mean blu-ray isn't going to be extremely useful this generation. As I've said, Stranglehold's inclusion of a full 1080p movie on the same disc for $10 more is proof enough of the advantage. Strangehold is the sequel to Hard Boiled. I think game sizes will get bigger like they do all the time, and if you disagree then let's just agree to let it go. |
1. I never said Sony was blocking porn, I said they were trying to. How is that so hard for you to understand? Why do you think I'm backtracking when that's what I've been saying all along?
You saying Nintendo's Friend Codes being worse than content censorship is just silly. A non-point. You're the only person I've ever met who has ever considered them anything more than an nuissance. Stop trying to act like Nintendo has failed the human race for something so trivial.
2. I'm not dodging any issue, and if you're going to claim I am perhaps you should at least illustrate that somehow instead of just making empty claims. Sony, unlike most companies, has been caught investing money into consumer invasive piracy protection, i.e. rootkits and have continue to pursue similar development. Its not the fact that they're investing in anti-piracy, its that they see invading the consumer's privacy as a legitimate means of doing so.
3. I love how your respond to an argument about how there's essentially no prevalent need for HD intigration of the market at this point in time by... comparing Blu-Ray to HD-DVD? Are you even reading my replies? I was adressing the issue of us not needing any HD form intigration in our media for at least five years. The point was, while HD is obviously the future, choosing a format now is not necessary due to limited market saturation of HD in both TV and Movies. I furthered this by showing how the claim of Blu-Ray being an HD godsend when only 1% of the consumer market can even use it on the PS3 in 1080dpi just goes to show how little of a place it has at the moment.
4. Find me one post where I ever claimed the Wii was without flaw. Not once in any of my posts did I ever state that I thought the Wii was perfect. Not once did i ever claim I had no reservations about it or its features. What I have claimed though is that I feel it is the most appealing console, the most successful console and what its going in the right direction of the three, that's all I've ever said in any of my posts while tackling each issue as relevant. I don't know why you think you've gotten me to admit anything when I've just been saying what I've been saying all along.
I can't believe you are such a fanboy to believe that anyone defending or supporting of the Wii obviously thinks its perfect. Find one single post on this entire forum where I said the Wii was perfect . You can't, because that has never been my stance. This entire debate is just one train wreck of another born of your inability to properly read my replies. If english isn't your first language, then I understand but if it is, you have no excuse for your failure to follow the debate and stay on topic.
