Because it likely will be fairly successful. Which unfortunately means over time I think Nintendo's focus will become more and more smartphone/casual centric. That's where the money is. 

Plenty of people I'm sure will buy Mario Kart iOS, Animal Crossing iOS, Nintendo Land iOS, etc.
