This is simple: Anouma came up with a game that rivalized Ocarina of Time in less than a year because Miyamoto challenged him (hence the fact that he had to reuse tons of the OoT assets); and some people, like me, ended up loving more this project of his than the original OoT.

Heck, some people prefer Picasso's take on Las Meninas over Vélazquez, despite reusing the same models and enviroments. Extrapolate it to this situation; why do you feel the need to downplay Majora for what it is? It is still a piece of art, just like OoT is. Same with the Picasso example. His take on Las Meninas is a different breed of art, but art still.
