| Redgrave said: Fair review. I'd give it 8/10. It hasn't held up as well as OOT has, it felt a bit rushed to me when I first played through it again, and it's lost the sense of dread and doom that made the original game's atmosphere so special. The soundtrack/graphics/controls (aside from swimming) are all fantastic. It used to be the black sheep of the series. It was weird and out of place, and that, to a lot of people, was the game's biggest appeal. It originally had a small cult following online that's since devolved into complete daftness thanks to impressionable kids and that goofy Ben creepypasta. It's the most popular game in the series now it seems, I understand that the majority of Zelda fans are quite young and that's why the "best Zelda game ever" is released every two to three years. I mean, it seems to be a pattern, a few years ago the OOT appreciation was at fever pitch, and ALTTP before that, three years ago the internet hailed the Wind Waker as the best in the series, then it passed, and now it's Majora's Mask's turn, and I'm sure in a year or two Twilight Princess will take the stage. |
Good thing my opinions don't change based on the popular vote. Especially considering I've played all of them in the past year, so I don't really have any nostalgia attached to any of them. Personally, I didn't enjoy OoT quite as much as others and TP is my least favorite out of the 3D games, and I don't think that will ever change.
Wind Waker has the best balance for me in a Zelda game since it's so heavy on exploration. I do hope Zelda U surpasses it in quality though.
