As far as I've seen, there's never been a single town in a single game that matches Termina. It's other games that need to catch up with Zelda in that regard. I don't see why a village in Zelda U has to be 60 people large. The size of Termina's town is fine for a world as big as the one in Zelda U.

I'm not saying i'd like every town to be massive, You can have both, maybe 4 or 5 big strongholds which are teaming with activity accompanied with dozens of smaller villages or outposts spread around the map. If Nintendo do this then surely everyone will be happy.
