These are elements of RPG games. Zelda isn't a RPG and was never trying to be one (except maybe Zelda II).  

I may be wrong but Zelda is more of a blend between the action adventure and dungeon crawling genre with an overworld that the player can freely roam.

Your ideas might be suitable for RPGs like Pokemon and Fire Emblem, but defintely not necessary for Zelda.

We will see if they are necessary when zelda U is released. I think it will have elements of western RPG's, it is already moving towards western rpg's with its huge open world and skyward sword had upgradable equipment, surely more WRPG elements will follow such as health bars for enemies which has already been confirmed.
