Japanese Xenoblade Direct?

Also, a few smaller, more casual games did release in that timeframe

I doubt a Japanese Direct is helping out sales in the west when the game has no release date outside of 2015. What smaller games have released this year?

Most notably Kirby and the Rainbow curse, which explains the higher sales in the US last week. But also games like Shantae and the Pirate's curse, Chariot and Citizens of Earth, while eShop titles, got a fairly good reception and reviews and might generate more interest into the console as well.

it's also probably true for some upcoming titles in the next 2-3 month like Mario vs Donkey Kong: tipping Stars (outside of US, where it already released, just like Kirby), Trine: Enchanted edition, Mighty number 9, Windup Knight 2 or Space Hulk, which all are smaller titles but can keep the interest of the console up until the big hitters arrive
