November 2016. 3DS successor will be out earlier that year (yes, one year after N3DS US release), and since the next console will tie in heavily to the handheld, launching it the following holiday makes sense.
If Nintendo's willing to ride out the Wii U for any longer than that, then they need a significant price cut as of May and Splatoon. If they don't do that, you can bet that they're just going to drop this albatross from their neck as soon as they can justify.
