Perhaps the development of the game just started a bunch of months before of its announcement. Heck, they could have started the project after the reveal. That doesn't make sense. Why didn't they just replace that with an announcement of Splatoon then? The Wii U had a bigger lack of shooters than RPGs. Why not SM3DW? It was coming out the same year. Why not MK8 or Smash? Why not anything that was actually ready to be talked about at all less than two and a half years later?
May as well be vaporware now.
