Doom doesn't have to be instant.  The 3ds needed it's price slashed instantly and will end up less than half of the 3ds. The next HH will continue to decline.  I never claimed instant doom, but the market is only going 1 way. If Nintendo sticks with a dedicated HH console next gen,  they will alienate themselves even more by the time that gen is over.  

Pls stop. Are you really forgetting Support here?Look at how many games each system gets. HHs get close to no third party support compared to consoles.

Ok but 3DS still managed over 50mil, and even if next HH declined to 30mil, they still be fine. When somebody left the Hardware market, was there HW over 30mil or even close to it? No.

Pokemon/MH/etc will also not allow HHs to die. 

It's not the ps4 or sony's fault that they've treated 3rd parties to such good terms over the years.  It's just another product of David's succes vs goliath.  

 

There is no guarantee that in 5 years the likes of monster hunter,  dragon quest,  Yokai Watch etc will still be exclusive to a nintendo handheld.  Sony might cause a little trouble with the ps4 but the real elephant in the room is mobile.  That gravy train is only in second gear.  Japan is also sugar coating the overall sales, while still good don't paint a bright future.
