Also, why are you playing down MM and upselling The Order? One is a game old school Nintendo fans were really excited for and got reviewed really well, and has sold really well. The other is a cinematic shooter that got pretty mediocre reviews, and some think isn't selling as well as it was supposed to. Not trying to downplay the 3DS, it's done very well for Nintendo and is proving that even in the age of the smartphone and mobile games, it's possible to make a sucessful handheld. But the PS4 is doing really, really well, and the 3DS is the only other console selling even close. So comparisons are going to be made. |
How do we know the PS4 won't peak this year, though? We don't.
I'm playing down MM because it's entirely likely that Zelda fans already owned the console due to Ocarina of Time 3D and A Link Between Worlds, so it's not like Majora's Mask 3D was meant to be some huge system seller. On the other hand, The Order was an extremely hyped game (outside of the internet) that was known for its beautiful graphics (which is what the general public mainly cares about) so it was bound to sell some systems, especially being the first big PS4 exclusive of the year.
I agree that both are doing very well. I'm just saying this comparison wasn't necessary. This isn't a "Let's follow the sales of these consoles and see how it goes this year," it's a "See? The PS4 beat the 3DS in this small timeframe. The PS4 rocks!!" I just don't see how this thread was meant to stir up positive responses. It would've been much better with a different title, especially.
