The 3DS is out in America for less than 4 years.  The ps4 is out for less than 2. The 3DS had MM which was huge plus monster hunter.  It also had a new model that sold really well.  This is quite the achievement from the ps4. Remember its still at launch price.

Either way, that's a huge difference. You're comparing a handheld that's past its peak to a console that likely hasn't peaked yet. How do you not see the flaw in that?

Yeah, it had a remake of the least popular 3D Zelda of all time and a game that is entirely niche in the west. Meanwhile the PS4 had a huge, mainstream shooter that appeals to its audience quite well. I'm not saying it's not an achievement that the PS4 is selling so well, but your attempts to downplay the 3DS are futile and appear to be out of spite. You can praise Sony and the PS4 without putting the 3DS down.

Actually, since neither of them is at the peak...it could technically make perfect sense to compare them.

Say both are on a timescale that goes from 0-100, with 50 being the peak. If the PS4 is at 25, and the 3DS at 75, sales would be pretty much the same. Not saying that's the case here, but being before or after the peak makes for a totally valid comparison.

Also, why are you playing down MM and upselling The Order? One is a game old school Nintendo fans were really excited for and got reviewed really well, and has sold really well. The other is a cinematic shooter that got pretty mediocre reviews, and some think isn't selling as well as it was supposed to.

Not trying to downplay the 3DS, it's done very well for Nintendo and is proving that even in the age of the smartphone and mobile games, it's possible to make a sucessful handheld. But the PS4 is doing really, really well, and the 3DS is the only other console selling even close. So comparisons are going to be made.

I bet that on launch the Nintendo Switch will have no built in in-game voice chat. He bets that it will. The winner gets six months of avatar control over the other user.
