Nintendo almost always only support themselves. If they make a profit, they can do it. Plus they got billions upon billions of dollars stashed away from the Wii and DS. So they could keep going for 10 years while not making a profit and still be fine.

they wouldn't go years without profit and want to stick with that plan.  They're here to make money not squander everything they've earned.  OT Nintendo could if they REALLY unify it.  Crossbuy on everything with less resolution or something on the portable version would be good.  That way, as has been said earlier, they can free up teams who made portable or console versions of their games previously since they'll only need one version for the system.  They may need to make some new IP and push them the same as their established stuff like Sony has done the last few years with Infamous, Beyond 2 Souls, The Order, and Heavy Rain.  Get the Jap support, get some third party deals like Bayonetta, get your first parties all on the same page and release 4 games a month at least for your system.  You got it.
